Where's the f in fish? £180
This one is a small box top, full of detail and a 'fish' sign on a building... the f has dropped off.
Smattering.
Made some years ago, I finally got to finish this small image of Machynlleth from Penrallt (The hill above).
The snow has fallen. It was based on a photo by John Mason our local photographer, fisherman scientist and sage.
It was an early experiment I wish I could have made it better John.
Mounted on a 300 year old piece of gnarled oak.
Sept 2024... What a blow, we just heard that John has passed away, and I never showed him the picture... agh.
He was such a treasure, friend to many, engaged in so many ways with science, writing, fishing, poetry and our community.
I used a photo of John taken by Julie Bromilow-Nicklen to make this simple picture.
Coed Cat.£280
This small piece took weeks to make with veneer that I previously painted with patterns, (I never paint after the pieces are fixed.) There are hundred of splinters and tiny circles.
My Granddaughter Bonnie suggested it needed a figure, so I added the cat (coed means wood in Welsh)
Blown away - Sold at 2024 MOMA - Tabernacle arts exhibition.
Some pictures I get very attached to. This one took a while and is based on an image by Kyffin Williams. The theme was a 'A windy day'.
The picture - all made from scrap veneer, has bits missing and they are floating around in the wind or sticking out from the picture and on the frame.
The red barn.
£380
Several smaller images like this are between £25 and £100
Shear £180

This is Erosimous - I made up the word as I couldnt find one in the dictionary to suit.
Its hanging rather wonkily in my studio.
Its somewhere between £280 and £380.
Seren Dipedy £ 180
This took several weeks to complete, trying to convey the idea of fields and a distant village but in a very abstract way. The textures and colours of the individual pieces are very strong. 'Fields' is £500 all proceeds to charity. SOLD
'Brainbox' is £380. Here is a video of how I made it.
size is 60 x 60 cm SOLD
Cats Whiskers £380 about 60cm square
'Where is my hippocampus' now framed framed £380 SOLD
This an experiment and is based on a drawing I found online by Taeyhung.
Disecting and simplifying the subject into blocks using simple lines and then finding the right texture to fill in the grid.
Ddim ar werth 3. (means ' not for sale ')
It's referring to 'Wales is not for sale'
This is an enlarged section of the picture.
Its made from very knarled old veneer thats been left out in the rain
There's a lot of detail in this picture. Lots of shapes and hills, valleys and
rivers that unfold as you look into it. The snow is coming.
54 x 38 £280

Talyllyn- SOLD
Ddim ar werth. SOLD
In Welsh, that means 'not for sale'.
Here is a link to how I made the picture.
35 x 40 cm , made from tiny pieces of wood.
Gazing at the sail. SOLD
I leave old furniture out in the rain.
When it has fallen apart, I split the laminations and find interesting gnarled pieces to add to the picture.
In my minds eye, this was Borth. Two people watch the sail as the tide tumbles in.
Please expand the picture to see the huge amount of tiny detail.
It measures 60 x 75 cm inc the frame.
